Crossing the Big 3-0

Well, it’s already been 6 years since I wrote Turning 24!!! Sad that the age bucket changed but it seems I have matured enough to let it go :D

One of my friends forwarded me this link recently. And I was like, dude seriously? Except point no 1, 6 and 10, I think rest 12 are out of my league. You don’t have to be sooooooo boring when you cross 30!

To be frank, I didn’t mind turning 30. Though some people think it’s the end of your youth, I feel it’s the time when you are still young & exciting and much more confident about yourself than ever before. For me, it’s a big change from 24 to 30!

  • I am no longer conscious about how do I look or present myself except for the important events.
  • I really don’t care now about what people think of me.
  • I prefer to stay at home and spend my time in painting or reading instead of attending gossip parties (and I don’t regret it at all!).
  • Buying books which are bestsellers and in hypes is no longer my trend. I know what my taste is and get a book which fits to it.
  • Always being surrounded by friends or family is not my need now. Sometimes, it’s quite good to stay alone and enjoy your own company.
  • I have fewer friends! Though it seems bad but believe me it’s actually a very good thing. I am now in contact with the friends who truly matter to me!
See, its not bad at all! :)

Queen in me...

It’s not much latest movie by now but it’s been the most talked movie for last 2-3 months. Queen is a mild and sweet film about 'Growing Up'. A story of an overprotected middle-class girl, who is stood up by her fiancee just two days before her wedding.  Instead of getting inside a cell of self-pity, she decides to go on her honeymoon alone and invents herself. The journey to Paris and Amsterdam turns into a journey of her self-realization.

When I came out of the theater, I had a smile on my face and I could see the smiles on all other faces as well. It kept my mind hacked for next few days reminding me of my ‘Queen’ moments.

The moment when I started leaving away from home all by myself, when I did things such as trekking, river rafting, waterfall rappelling etc. for the first time, my first onsite at France, when I started meeting ‘wanna be grooms’ by myself, when I switched my first company, when I traveled to US alone changing 4 different flights and stayed there alone for 2 months, when I toured the unknown cities of US on my own without any company, when I had a drink with unknown Russian and African people! So many countless moments which didn’t actually changed my life. But they provided me a confidence that I can do whatever I want.

It’s not about the gender equality or women empowerment. But I feel, being able to take your own decisions or realizing that you can do a particular thing or even the confidence that you can do something all by yourself is what makes you happy. This kind of queen or king is present inside all of us. We may realize many things about ourselves at any point of time. It’s an ongoing process which gives us the ‘king’ or ‘queen’ moments.

A Different View

This is a summary of quite an old story, probably written during India-Pakistan partition time.

A woman named Malika goes to the hospital for treatment. While filling out the initial form, nurse asks her: "Who's your 'Malik'?"
Malika gets angry and says, "I am not a cycle or clock to have a Malik!"
Annoyed Nurse asks: "What is the name of your husband?"
Malika answers: 'I don't have a job.'
This time surprised nurse asks for explanation and Malika says: "Every person has some job assigned to him/her. Like you are doing a job of nurse. This doctor has his profession in medical science. In the same way, when we get married, husband gets a job of being a husband and wife gets a job of being a wife! I don't have a job means I am not yet married."
Now the nurse gets confused. So Malika continues, "every job in the world has appraisals, promotions and increments. A Field Marshal becomes General someday, a General becomes Lieutenant General someday. But this does not happen in Marriages."
Again annoyed, nurse asks, "So what are you expecting? What's there in the marriage which would count for this appraisal or promotion? How are you going to justify this?"
Malika smiles and says: "Yes, there is a system. It's very simple and straight but very difficult to find out. Even I haven’t seen any such case. Promotion would refer for a husband from being a husband initially, growing into a lover. Being a lover and finally growing to a god for his wife!"

Pretty different thought, isn’t it? Linking a very complex relationship with such a simplified bond!
This is the magic of Amrita Pritam!

Nostelgia!

I was surfing on youtube today and hit this beautiful song. It sent me back in my school days when this song was just released and was getting famous day by day. Those were the magical days when me and my friends used to dream about the "Mr. Perfect". Those were the days when every moment was a "search for love" moment. Those were the days when we liked every romantic song that we came across, however bad it may be. Those were the days when we had fantasies about every step of coming life. Those were the days when every love story seemed to be magical and we envied all our friends who had boyfriends!

Now this is making me nostalgic and am gonna enjoy this nostalgia :)

The greatest fear of my life!

Someone asked me today what my greatest fear is and I realized there are so many things which I am scared of.

Since childhood, I have a fear of fire. When I was in 7th grade, I happened to see one of my friend caught on fire at her home. Though she survived, burning changed her body, face and in turn her life. She is suffering through the trauma and consequences even after 12 yrs! I always pray to god, please give me any kind of death but not a death by burning. However I cannot say, fire is my greatest fear.

I am not afraid of height or speed or water, I can drive at any speed and do bungee jumping from any height or throw myself in water even though I dont know swimming. So what else I am scared of? ghosts? Yes, sometimes. specially when I see a horror movie and Ajay keeps on reminding me the movie or sings the title tune of zee horror show! but again its not my greatest fear.

Death? No i am not afraid of death but yes I am afraid of death of my closed ones as I would never want to loose them. Since it's the thing no one can change, it doesn't come into "greatest" bracket.

Being alone? No, I am not scared of being alone. I would definitely find something to do, either reading or painting or anything. Being at unknown location? No, even if someone leaves me at any african jungle or remote country on earth (except Pakistan and Afganistan), I would be more than happy to stay there.

I am scared of street dogs but I guess everyone is scared of them. so not a big deal. Being unemployed? that would definitely hurt and frustrate me but again not a big deal.

The real horror would come if I would sit idle and have nothing to do. Yes, thats my greatest fear. I simply cant do that! Though I am quite lazy by nature, the concept of doing nothing can haunt me.
So finally I got my greatest fear! What's your?

Mind matters

Human mind is one of most complex things in the world. They say, our mind can process seven items at once- items such as sounds, odors, images, or emotions like joy or anger.
we need only 1/18 of a second to process each item. It means we can process 126 pieces of information every second. That's 7,560 per minute, half a million per hour!
Interesting! Isn't it?
Now what a mind can "DO" can be devided into Thought, Thinking, Memory, Imagination and Consciousness. But do we realize these things in our daily life? No, at least I don't. So I just decided to concentrate on whatever is going on my mind for one minute. Initially, I found it funny but by the end of minute it was a hell lot of things. Or my mind might be very diverse :P

1. It stopped raining, that's not good :(
2. Why I am working here?
3. Hmm, I need to prepare status report
4. Oh god, when my mom will listen to me
5. Tumhi din chade, tumhi din dhale, tumhi ho bandhu, sakha tumhi
6. Did I call Ani today? Let it be why should only I keep on calling him everyday...
7. Party Time, no one seems working today except my teammembers, 3 hours to go for party.
8. I hope, food would be good at LeRoyale
9. Where did I heard Tumhi ho bandhu, sakha tumhi? is it some sanskrit shlok or old hindi movie song?
10. that 1920 wala house was so pretty but I didnt like her dress.
11. Why is Richa talking too loud
12. Ok, for that issue, field validation was right, did I check field formula? Yes, I did. I should check design synopsis
13. Madhuri, you have to loose weight!
14. It's 3:30, Ajay must be in a meeting!
15. This guy should change his ringtone or put the cell on silent. it's so irritating! How can one keep any gazzle as ringtone?
16. I forgot to update my cv, update it, update it
17. tu jeet meri, jag haar meri, main hoon hi nahi is duniya ki
18. 1200 rows and it's still counting, My life is EXCEl, pathetic!
19. So many emails this company sends everyday, dont they have any other work?
20. I am not prepared for party... let it be, whose gonna to see, I'll eat and enjoy music.
21. Richa must have reached Bangalore by now, so many things I want to tell her
22. ohh my Bike's breaks are not working! it's good no one was coming fast today while it slipped on the road
23. My life is a mess, why cant even a single thing go good?
24. ok, synopsis is showing nothing! means no error it should give, how is it possible?
25. hehe she is soooo excited about the party, when did I attend my first corporate party? don't remember :(
26. I should call Ani, after all he is younger than me
27. Is mom right? am I over-reacting?
28. Yes Yes Yes, got the link, why it didn't hit my mind before?
29. My touchscreen is now a beat screen hehehe
30. Tumhi din chade, tumhi din dhale, tumhi ho bandhu, sakha tumhi

Rules again, this time not mine!

My husband believes in rules and that rules are meant to be followed.
With little or no exceptions, he follows each and every rule he comes across.
He is always on time. If anything says "Do Not!", he absolutely does not.
In fact he keeps on saying "you should not!"

I am kind of Rule Breaker Questioner.
I drive the maximum speed limit. I often sometimes neglect stop signs.
I am always running late. If anything says "Do Not!" I consider it as a dare.
and I keep on saying "big deal!"

Clearly no one of us is right or wrong here although I am right.
What I feel is, if you always walk on marked path and never get off it, you will miss the flowers, birds and delights that haven't been stepped on. You might never know what surprises may be waiting just off the beaten path!

Sometimes, walking the straight & narrow path sucks the fun out of life.
Some rules....are meant to be bent.

I'm right 97% of the time, the other 4% doesn't matter.

My Life, My Rules!

A look at everything between life and death, day and night, you and me!

Life is all colours. colours of day, of fun, of work, of emotions, of relations, of songs, of lyrics, of paintings. Everthing has a different colour which is not same everyday. However every colour for that particular moment is fixed somehow by someone. Everything happens for a reason and it's not our business to get to the bottom of that reason. Leave reason, make your own move.

Life is loving. No matter what happend in past and what's gonna happen in future, life still loves you. Even if you think no one loves you, life is still there which loves you, warms you and invites you to live. The person you were is safely frozen in the abyss of time. It's up to you to be the person you want to be. Lock your past and lose the painful key for tomorrow is another day. And tomorrow will be better, tomorrow you will be better.

Life is random. When time freezes and you have no hope left, you stare at that blank wall and cry, making the pillow uncomfortably wet. You are shaken back into existence of money and materialism in spite of all your precious emotional agitation realizing, "Ohh, I hate sleeping on a soggy pillow" !  :)
Trivia reminds you to take it easy, to go with the flow and keep the faith. Randomness is what makes life interesting and vibrant.

And, it's not my life and my rules, it's my life that rules :)

Get the life and paint it!

Since last few days, I was bored of life. I was on bench, had nothing to work on, same routine, same set of people around! I was not unhappy with life but something was missing and didn't know what. And a quick short trip to my home made me realize what the thing was.

My nephew was sketching a rainbow, he tried it several times. Each time, he drew a semicircle with 6 lines, filled them with colors, reviewed it and showed a dustbin. I went to him and checked the latest one, he had filled first four parts with the same color and mixed two more colors randomly in remaining 3 parts! I helped him with proper colors and his picture was ready.

I did the same with my life, filled the same color in major parts and mixed inappropriate colors to the remaining. And this was a cause of boredom! I should have given a different color to each aspect, may it be as a professional, as a friend, as a daughter, as a wife, as a good person, as a bad person and most importantly as ME.

Now it's time to paint life with new fresh colors, taking care of not mixing up these colors :)

Bidding Adieu

I am always bad at saying good bye to people. Specially when you know that you are never gonna be in that cubical, in that team, with all office friends, with those clients and with all that work around. It's always a bit difficult to deal with it.

I remember when I left my first job, I was actually happy on my last day there. Almost all my friends had left the organization, my old team-members were already waiting for me in the next organization so it felt easy. But when I gave away that cts id tag and came out of the building, got goose bumps and realized that I have just lost something very important. I won't be catching that company bus again and won't be coming to this place, won't use that email id again, won't chatter in pantries, canteens and roam in and around those 4 buildings. We build relationships not only with people around but also with the surroundings!!!

I am facing the same situation again today while leaving my second organization. This time a bit different as I am leaving behind some of my dear friends and some very sweet moments shared with them. But as life has to go on, I would definitely look forward to a new world :)

Be yourself, everyone else is already taken!!!

My friend watched a movie yesterday- 'Mein Madhuri Dixit Banana Chahti Hu' and it came through discussion, how many of us dream of being a person we envy the most? Guys want to be Sachin/Hritik/Aamir, girls want to be Sania/Aishwarya etc. But did Sachin wanted to be a brian lara? or Madhuri wanted to be Madhubala? No, as they had their ambitions in place, they followed their instincts and have reached today at such heights.
The point here is, admiring people and having some role model is a very good thing but why to think of becoming that person only?

I wonder why people keep on comparing themselves with the other people. May be it's a human tendency to fall for such fruitless comparisons. Or since childhood, we are being told to see other people around and follow them. I remember during school time, my friend's mom used to tell her, "beta look at that guy, he does all his masti but still manages to come first in the class, learn something from him." and it started a phase of comparison for her, today as well when I meet her, I always find her envying someone.

That's why I really admire this beautiful quote by Oscar Wilde : Be yourself, everyone else is already taken!!! There are so many things which we normally avoid even if we want to do them, just bcoz of the fear, what people may think if I do this. It's all about being true to yourself and doing what you actually want to do. We get this life once and no need to waste it aiming towards something which is not on our list. So just be confident, love yourself and live the life you love :)

Why Seven???

I happened to go for a wedding a few days ago. As we knew during Indian weddings, we have 7 rounds (which we call fere or Saptapadi) around the fire and then bride and groom ties a knot for lifetime. I was wondering why do we have 7 feres and not 6 or 8... Then I realized, there are many things which are 7.... wanna check? Lets start from the wedding rounds itself.

1. Saptapadi in weddings.
Initially I used to think as normally people say there are 7 human births a person can have. So each round might be a replica of each birth. But when I asked my grandpa, he said, with each round a couple makes a vow to establish a happy married life. These includes - providing proper food, being strong and complement to one another, being blessed with prosperity, being eternally happy, being blessed with children, living in perfect harmony and finally being always the best of friends.

2. Seven days in a week
Have you ever wondered why there are seven days in a week? There were atleast 9 planets identified when the days, weeks and years into place, then why not 9 days in week, why 7? It may be due to the association of the seven celestial beings (the visible planets plus the Sun and the Moon) with deities in the minds of humans from probably an early stage in the development of intelligence up to the time of the advent of modern science. As we all know they include Sun, moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn

3. Seven wonders of the world
The number seven was chosen for this because the Greeks believed it to be the representation of perfection and plenty. However it still continues and now we have different sets of wonders but in number 7 :) like 7 wonders of ancient world, 7 wonders of medieval world, 7 wonders of modern world and etc. etc.

4. Seven colors in a rainbow.
Scientifically, there are many colours in a rainbow, almost infinite if you want to look very very closely. However we only have specific common words for 7 of them, and thus it is commonly known that a rainbow has the 7 colours red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. All the rest we dont see because they are too far away. Again why there are 7 common words for colors is again a mistery...

5. 7 Sur in music (Saptasur)
Indian Music has Saptak Swaras octats (sa re ga ma pa dha ni) which are basics of music, using which hundreds of ragas are composed. The seven notes of the scale (swaras), in Indian music are named shadja, rishabh, gandhar, madhyam, pancham, dhaivat and nishad, usually shortened to Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni and written S, R, G, M, P, D, N. Collectively these notes are known as the sargam (the word is an acronym of the consonants of the first four swaras)

6. Seven deadly sins
Wrath (Anger), Greed (a sin of excess), Sloth (neglecting what God has spoken, and being physically and emotionally inactive), Pride, Lust, Envy and gluttony (over-indulgence) are supposed to be seven deadly sins in the world.

7. Seven spirits of god
As per the old mythes there are seven spirits of god, which include the Spirit of the Lord; the Spirit of wisdom; the Spirit of understanding; the Spirit of counsel; the Spirit of might; the Spirit of knowledge and the Spirit of the fear of the LORD.

Also, as per Hinduism, there are seven worlds in the universe, seven seas in the world and seven Rishies (seven gurus) called sapta rishis. The sapta rishis include Bhrigu, Atri, Angirasa, Vasishta, Pulastya, Pulalaha and Kratu. There are seven virtues as per the catholic history including faith, hope, love, patience, kindness, courage and justice. According to Arthur M. Young there are seven levels of evolution. According to Charles Muses there is a seven-dimensional Q-universe which is the master control center of our 3-d universe. There are seven step pyramids in Mexico, seven step ziggurats of Mesopotamia. And the mystery of number Seven continues :)

Miracles do happen.

Currently I am reading a book - Breaking Dawn. The last one in Twilight saga.
I always like such difference making stories. I mean an encounter between a normal human girl and a vampire who tries very hard to keep away from the delicious smell of her blood. Then their out of the world love story. Her best friend turning into a warewolf trying to resist falling in love with her human friend and a love triangle between human girl, vampire and a warewolf...Interesting hmmmm... And beyond that when I started reading the last book, there comes a new twist with the vampire baby...

I was wondering about such miracles which can happen only in books or movies but then I realized miracles do happen in our day to day life. Rising Sun giving joy and energy to the world, magical colorful petals of flowers opening with the rising sun, the seasons we enjoy in an year....aren't all these things a miracle? (Now science freak people will tell me the reasons behind all these things happening around but as I said earlier, I do believe in miracles.)
A little cute baby forming in moms comb, trying to walk, learning to eat, play, talk in childhood, getting a great family and awesome friends, mom-dad's care, warmth at home, enjoying fighting with bros and sis, feeling totally relaxed and happy by just a smile of your friends, I feel all these things are miracles. Music that makes us feel happy, hobbies we enjoy, games we play... We do consider all this as a routine life because it keeps on happening everyday around us and we neglect the importance of such things.

Someone has said it very correctly : Don't look too far for miracles, it's right next to you...and I do believe it.... Do you?

Tracking Ghosts

There was an article in yesterday's Times with a header : Hum, Tum aur ghost. 4 students from Mumbai are doing a project in which they are tracking ghosts in various areas in Mumbai. Surprisingly they have found around 40 such stories in urban and crowded areas of the city. That reminded me of a discovery channel serial, Americas most haunted places. I used to watch it additively without missing even a single episode. Those painful stories of people and their deaths and how they have now became spirits and keep on roaming here and there and terrifying people around, used to fascinate me a lot! Later on I came to know that National Geographic channel also started a new series based on the same show in which they proved how we can create ghost stories and also ghost photographs. I don't know the truth behind it as who was right in this case but the Ghost thing always keeps on hunting my mind.
Since childhood we hear many ghost related stories from our parents, friends, relatives and neighbors. We make some assumptions about those and live with those in mind. I remember in my college days, we tried doing planchete to call the so called "Bhatakti Atamas" but got no results :( . However there are very few people who try to find out the realities and get answers the queries in mind. Existence of god, ghost and paranormal things is a big question for some people but also we can find many people around who can definitely say these things exist. In a developed country like America, they have largest number of ghost hunting groups, don't believe me? check the following details

Surprising right? Even on Google if you search, there are hundreds of sites dedicated to ghosts and their stories. Who knows what exists and what not, some people will keep on denying the subsistence of paranormal things and some people will keep on chasing those things to get the reality. Best of Luck for their search :)

Some Myths in and about IT

People do have some presets in mind about the people working in IT. Even while joining any IT firm, we also have many expectations and we tend to see those things from same point of view. But when we actually jump in the field we come to know the reality. :(
I am sure all the people working in IT will agree with the following things :)

1. Myth : Company Name matters
Reality : Only technology matters
Example : No need to give an example for this. We can see many people around us who have come from small companies but have a good knowledge in their technology and so getting fat packages and onsite opportunities.

2. Myth : College Name Matters
Reality : Only if it's a campus selection, otherwise no one asks you about your college.
Example : (Courtesy : PuneOnline) A person ABC, Engg from a small private college, not even government approved college, didn't even know the basic concepts like string comparison and all in third year. Did some certifications CCNA and moved in to ITIS. He got the job, works as a network consultant in London.

3. Myth : Marks Matter
Reality : No way... apart from campus selection.
Example : (Courtesy : PuneOnline) A person XYZ, Poor academics, didn't get a job in campus. joined a little company and worked on Symbian. A very rare technology hence earns multiples compared to the friends who got selected in MNCs and are in common technology.

4. Myth : If you are technically sharp, effective in communication, onsite chances are high
Reality : All depends on your manager, project and off course LUCK.
Exmaple : A person PQR, got almost 6 months of training in a technology which could have been done in 3 months. No knowledge of even using proper past, present and future tense in English, Working in US from last 2 years.

5. Myth : You know each and every thing in computers
Reality : We all know it, apart from the technology we work on, other knowledge is very less.
Example : An old person who lives near my flat, came once and asked if I could start his computer and fix it properly which was not working for almost an year.

I will add some more as soon as I find out the realities :)

No life without wife. :)

This is one of my favorite songs from Bride and Prejudice. Perfectly describes what a girl wants from her would be... Specially in arrange marriages, it's the question of every boy meeting her officially for marriage :- So what are your expectations from a husband?
To be frank even we don't know what do we expect from him...sometimes we overly-idealize the things as we see around us! Good job, great salary, nice home, caring parents all these things are there by default...But I really feel, it's not a product after all and we are not buying it from a market. We look for a person and not the materialistic things in life. Yes practical approach should be there but still we do care of getting a good human being with whom we can share our complete life...The following things may seem a bit bollywood style or unrealistic but yes girls do expect it...
1. A man who adores her, and respects her with all the flows.
2. A man who stands tall with confidence and thinks "thats my woman!"
3. A man who has earned respect, because of who he is to those around him, and not only to her.
4. A man with brains in mind and love in heart and life.
5. A man with
a wit and ambition.
and obviously we do respect what his expectations from a wife and surely try to fulfill them. :)

Turning 24...

Hmm It's the time I am turning 24, which is a bit complex feeling...
Happy since it's a Birthday but sad as coming out of the age bucket 18-23.

Girls do enjoy being in their 18-23...The "I Don't care" Attitude, Fresh, young blood with new ideas and innovations and different ways of looking at the world, trying to get into professional world, Guys flirting all around...Girls with everything still in the right place, some of them hopefully still single.

Even at 24, I guess nothing will change as such....The "I Don't care" Attitude now changes to whatever may it is "I Can Handle" Attitude. We learn to implement the ideas and innovations which were still on mind, the different ways of looking at the world now seem to be really fair enough and teach to think about each possible dimension of every thing, Girls with a glint in their eye, and not yet worn down by cynicism and doubt. Firm on the decisions and ready to take all the responsibilities in personal as well as professional front :)

Just had a look on how even our choices change, We listen to Radio 4 a lot and remember key phrases from the news and sport so that we can repeat them at work and pretend to have an informed opinion (:P). We pretend to hate cartoons and show "ohh that's not a my cup of tea" faces...but we still really love cartoons. Reality TV shows and feel-good gown-up versions of teen dramas are at their pick for us. We often pretend to be interested in fashion and style not as we are interested but just to portray that we are "Girly". We rarely use our phones for anything meaningful or constructive apart from getting snaps and organizing friends.

So that's enough for now... tired of thinking much and just in a mood to enjoy the life :)

Dil to bachha hai ji...

Yesterday was my friend's birthday so I called her and asked - so ma'am how old are you now?
I actually forgot we should not ask woman her age since the most reviled question for any girl is about her age and now a days even boys don't like it if you ask them :)

But whatever may be the age of person, there is a child hidden in him/her. Some people may say it as wrong but it's a fact that everyone likes to behave like a kid.
Every time I enter into office, on my way to desk, I always feel like I should tap on each head that is coming ahead. While watching a movie, if there is very emotional scene going on and everyone is involved in it, I feel like shouting aloud and making weird noise. Sometimes like asking - Itna sannata kyu hai bhai? In garden I love to play on see-saws, even if it is not allowed for so called grown-ups. Playing in rain is the most common thing we do when we are not in the office. Even the soft skills trainings we got during our induction had many games which were like kids games.

Tell me if you are in a meeting room, a person enters late don't you feel like taking his chair away while he is about to sit? Even if you are a mature person, you do like watching Tom and Jerry. We like to play with kids and become a part of their game. We do cheat in games if we are not in a winning position. So it's very true that whoever may we are and whatever may be the age, Dil to bachha hai ji....n it will keep on doing bachhojaisi harkate... :)

You must also be doing all these things..Don't you? Do send me some new ideas to keep my Dil Bachha... :D

New Year Resolutions.

It's the last day of year and no one seems in a mood to do any work today in office.
Waiting for the evening's rocking party and a long weekend ahead, it's time again for the new year resolutions. (which I seriously plan on every 31st Dec and forget by 15th Jan :P)
So this time I have made a list...let's see how it works.

1. Wake up at 8 am in the morning.

My day usually starts by 9 am which my mom and dad think is a really bad habit. So I will now wake up 1 hour early and utilize my additional 1 hour in reading the daily newspaper (that too every page of it and not only daily horoscope details n cartoons)

2. I
'll keep my room clean and prepare tea at home.
This one is going to be really difficult for me as I found cleaning room as the most boring work of my life. I need to get a cylinder which is waiting to be filled since last one and a half month. (Thanks to my and my roommate's time management (can be read as laziness!!!))

3. I'll check my orkut, facebook, yahoo and rediff only once in office.

Instead of being online for the whole day and chatting with whoever comes online, I will now check my mails only once in a day when I reach office. Spend only 15 mins for it and remaining day is to be dedicated for assigned work only.

4. Avoid copy-pasting the code

Which is again a bit difficult but I need to write it by myself thoroughly. Because as per Rancho's theory in 3 idiots, you should achieve excellence to get the success and I guess excellence won't come through copy-paste....

5. Minimize my Tea/coffee breaks

In return minimizing gossiping and discussing how we are smarter than our managers.

6. Utilize evening time.

Instead of roaming around adlabs and life style, utilize that time for some constructive hobbies like reading, painting etc.

7. Sleeping early may be by 11 pm.

I need to control my phone bill, so should avoid chit-chatting with frnds for so long in the night. Should cut 30 mins calls to 5 mins as important details can also be told in 5 mins. (I mean if we are talking about a new guy on the flr, the guy is smart and hot will do...no need to describe his walking style, shirt colors and hairstyle on call. This we can also discuss in office.)

Enough for now I guess....I'll add more if I think of any odd thing.
and I am surely going to review these things again on 31st Jan (which I hope I would remember...)
